Question for you

Hi ladies! Ok, so I was really excited yesterday to drop below the 170 mark, but today it says I gained a pound and a half. I'm up to 171.3! I was pretty good on my calories and even worked out late last night. There are two possible reasons for this: 1. The nutrition information for Buffalo Wild Wings on The Daily Plate is WAY off and the Honey BBQ Boneless Wings are more than the said 500 calories. or 2. Being on my period is affecting my weight. Since this is the first month that I'm really tracking all of this diligently, I'm not sure if that time of the month will do that to you. Could that just be retained water??? Let me know what you think!!

Oh, another thing - I told Bob about this blog and how much it's helping me push on in this journey. He's really pumped that it's working for me and he asked me the address so he can look at it. I tell him everything - he's my best friend...but I really like having this one thing that I KNOW is totally anonymous. I told him that that aspect really helped and that it was nice to have a place to gush about him as well that I know he wouldn't read. He said he respected that and let it lie. I think it's cute though that he wanted so badly to read what I write on here.

Current Weight: 171.3

  1. Dont fret! It could have been the sodium content, your period or just the wings themselves (bbq sauce has alot of sugar and salt it it......and lots of sugar in the honey). Drink lots of water each day until 3pm to flush out anything you may have eaten with lots of sodium.....that helps too

  2. Kristina is totally right about having loads of water- try having warm water each time you do- it burns fat, i'm told. Also kills a bit of your appetite. So, that's surely the way to go.

If you ask me, the period is your culprit.

    It'll go.

I'm sure the blog is still playing on the back of Bob's mind- just give him the address- he'll only love you more when he reads all the stuff you say about him here.

  3. Really try NOT to weigh every day...you will drive yourself nuts!! Water weight can fluctuate majorly. TOM and the sodium in the wings is def your culprit. Warm water with lemon will act as a diuretic and help flush the excess...or coffee ☺.
Also, make sure you are drinking PLENTY of water. Not drinking enough will make you retain also.

  4. My weight can fluctuate 3-4 pounds in either direction...especially "that" time of the month. That's probably what is going on with you, too.

  5. My weight definitely goes up when I'm my period! Also water retention sometimes too. Try drinking a lot of water and maybe wait a couple of days to weigh in again.

  6. I told a couple of family members and now constantly have to think about them reading what I write. I have not told anyone else that I am blogging because I don't want them to ask for my site. Anonymity is freeing.

  7. I'd call it period weight, especially if you also ate salty snacks. Don't fret!

  8. Question for you. I'm thinking about getting a Wii(for Wii Fit). Do you honestly think you use it enough? How do you like it? Do you have a treadmill, and if so, do you also use that along with the Wii? Do you get a good sweaty workout when doing the Wii Fit...like to the point that you can say, "Oh, I feel so much better, so glad I worked out!"

I have to say I love your blog, and am so glad I stumbled upon it. I myself have been on a weight loss journey. For a long time. Slowly, but surely the scale is going down. So happy for that. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

I have been doing the treadmill for about a year now..2 to 3 miles 6 nights a week. Also eating more healthy...not crazy-obsessed about it all the time..but do have treats in moderation. I personally feel(for me anyway) that is the most realistic way to lose and KEEP it off. So if I want a piece or 2 of dark chocoalte with my cup of coffee, I have it without any guilt. If my mother-in-law brings over freshly baked pie or cookies, I have one cookie or a small sliver of pie..without guilt. Life goes on. I am, however, addicted to coffee.

Anyway, I could go on and on. I'm just curious if spending the money would really be worth it for the Wii, or should I just keep plugging away on the treadmill. Reading about the Wii on your blog, it sounds kind of fun. Just want your honest opinion :-)

You're doing an awesome job by the way!! Keep it up. Isn't the greatest feeling ever when you see the numbers falling on the scale. Oh, and I weigh myself everyday..in the morning...absolutely have to. No way around it. And sometimes I look down at the scale and say, "oh, whatever, you're wrong!" and kick the scale back in the closet..until the next morning.

Also great idea about going anon. with this weight-loss blog. It's nice to journal about your true feelings and numbers..and not have people all in your business..Ha ha.

    Thanks for sharing your journey!

  9. Sara - thanks for your encouragement! Honest feedback on the Wii - it is the BEST money I spent all year! I don't have a treadmill at home. I had tried a workout DVD but can't get into that. I like classes at the gym, but I can only get over there once a week usually which isn't enough. This lets me work out whenever I want. You can do a lot of different stuff on it too. Often times, I just do the free step. I set it to a half hour and then change the channel and watch TV. The remote taps out a beat that I step on and off the balance board to. I burn about 124 cals in a half hour doing that. I love the yoga too. It gives you feedback and shows how well you held the pose. I've seen my scores going up and up which proves that my muscles have been toning up. There are aerobic things you can do too to get the sweaty workout you want. I even like some of the games like super hula hoop (great for core - and really gets heart pumping) and the obstacle course (has you running and squatting - works up a sweat). I'd recommend it to anyone! It also makes it easy to track your weight loss progress and workouts and stuff. Get it girl!!
